“I don’t want to turn an autistic person into a non-autistic person.
I want to turn an autistic person who struggles into an autistic person who doesn’t struggle.”

Personal Zoom sessions for individual caregivers, educators, and professionals are 1-2 hours long and customized to meet your needs. These needs may change from session to session. Here are some examples:

  • Check-in: how are you feeling? What do you want to discuss today? How did last session’s suggestions pan out?
  • Detailed answers to your questions about common autism/ADHD experiences; methods to investigate and potential “translations” of behaviours from autistic and/or ADHD children/students/clients
  • Exploring personal and structural barriers to understanding autism and ADHD
  • Practical explanations of neurodiversity-related terms, such as stimming, time agnosia, functioning labels, spiky profiles, sensory processing, etc.
  • Identifying whether current school/therapy environments and goals are helpful or potentially harmful
  • Planning topics for next time: questions you’d like me to research, topics you’d like me to steer you towards, affirmations you may need to hear, etc.

I recognize that Zoom is not ideal for many people, and I am committed to making sessions as comfortable and accessible as possible. All of the following accommodations are available to those who need them—no formal diagnosis required. Please contact me to inquire about specific accommodation requests!

In or after video chats:

  • Zoom captions
  • Option of turning off your camera and/or typing instead of talking
  • Sending Zoom recordings or follow-up notes to assist with memory or information processing
  • Sharing a text-based schedule from my screen or provide other prompts, at your request, to assist with organized discussion
  • Reminders of how much time we have left
  • Short breaks mid-session

Instead of video chats:

  • Detailed, non-scheduled emails
  • Scheduled Facebook chats

1-on-1 consultations are completely remote at this time. Consultations for businesses and organizations may occur online or in-person.

I specialize in interpreting the needs of autistic/ADHD young adults and adults who are excellent “maskers.” These individuals struggle significantly with day-to-day life, but are often denied accommodation or assumed to be “faking it/manipulative/acting out” because they have been labelled “Asperger’s”, “high-functioning,” “level 1,” or “too smart to be struggling with xyz” by a society that downplays their very valid needs.

“High-masking” autistic people and ADHDers have diverse struggles, but these often culminate in severe challenges in work, school, and daily life that appear to contradict what others think they “should” be capable of. They may perform well academically but struggle to complete everyday tasks at home; their poor job or academic performance may not accurately display their impressive skills and knowledge; they may become inconsolable after making errors; they may appear to connect well with others but still feel “like an alien”; they may experience significant distress when a planned interaction (such as a phone call to a doctor’s office) goes “off-script”; they may be exceptionally eloquent writers but shy and nervous speakers; etc.

I proactively remain informed about diverse topics in relation to autism and ADHD through critical research, collaborative projects, and contact with the autism/ADHD community.
